After goodness knows how many years, Simon finally caught up with an old Kingswood school friend in Wangi Wangi of all places!! Justin & his lovely family put us up for the night and showed us true Aussie hospitality (prawns, beer, barbie, homemade beer, a trip on the lake, beer…….and a muzzy head in the morning!!!) Barnaby got to play on a proper electronic device again with Henry and we got to enjoy this glorious view! We had a fabulous time (thank you Justin, Becks & Henry) and it was just a shame that we couldn’t stay longer! Now onto Casa Colville……..!!!

Koala hospital!
Yesterday we went to the Port Macquarie koala hospital! It was the first koala hospital in Australia. They care for injured koalas and then put them back in the wild, but they have some permanent residents 🐨

What a Scenic World!
On the 17th of January we went to a place called Scenic World in the blue mountains. We went on a VERY steep train which was on a 52 degree angle, went on a skyway twice that was over 270m up in the air and went on a cable car that was quite fast and went on a 545m journey down into the massive valley.
We also saw the famous Three Sisters -which I doubt you have ever heard of- and walked very close to them.
We finally got to Summer Bay!!

Now, some of you may be aware of my slight obsession with the fabulous Ozzie soap Home & Away, which is filmed in Palm Beach?! So, how excited was I as we drove there this morning, hoping that they would be filming & that I would get to hear a “Flamin’ Gallah” from Alf or be called”Dall” by Irene……..
Sadly, it was not to be today (their loss, I know!!) But it didn’t stop me from dragging the kids up to the lighthouse to enjoy the stunning (if rather blustery!) views & buy some ice creams from the Bait Shop. Hope some of you recognise a few of these scenes from the show?
We’ve arrived at Katoomba in the Blue Mountains now, so expect some amazing photos from the kids tomorrow!! Jude x
I’ve had complaints…
…about me not updating this often enough….
We Have;
Been to Church (where they had a camel, apparently voiced by Snoop Dogg)
Picnic in Sydney Boutanical Gardens
Visited Contemporary Art Museum (‘interesting’). Made a bloke laugh in the toilets (again) when Barnaby and me told him it wasn’t a toilet, but one of the exhibits (hilarious I know).
Burnt a pizza.
Picked up hire car and drove to Bondi, where we had a swim.
Drove back over the bridge, annoyed lots of locals with some comedy lane changing….
Today (Tuesday) we move on to Blue Mountains via ‘Home and Away Land’ or as normal people call it ‘Palm Beach’
Attached photos from our picnic and some sunflowers….which frankly aren’t a patch on those grown in Millmead Road….

Pic’s from Freshwater
It’s my turn to write again! So I thought you might like to see what some of the houses look like in the ghetto that we are staying in!
We went for what we thought was going to be a quiet early morning walk along the beach today……..at 7am it was heaving with people doing all sorts of exercise & the cafés (which open at 6am!) were packed!!
The sun finally came out today, we’re all a little pink but loving the surfing lifestyle – Simon has even bought some flip flops!!!
We’re not missing the cold in Bath yet!!
Jude xx
Sydney!
Yesterday we went on the ferry from Manly to Sydney. Whilst in Sydney we had a tour around the opera house, which was very interesting. The botanical gardens (next to the opera house) were beautiful, and we stopped for a drink there. We could also see the Sydney Harbour Bridge from the gardens which people were climbing up!!

First real day in Australia!!
Today we walked to Manly beach and got a really bad sunburn (even though it was quite cold and windy). Mum and Alice got very excited as they spotted one of the Home And Away cast called Justin on Freshwater beach shooting a fitness video.
When we went to Freshwater beach we swam in the sea and it was much colder than we expected! At the moment I am quite jet-lagged and have been very ill over the past two days (including the flight)
Barnaby
🙂
Arrived
Just to confirm we have arrived. It’s a flipping long way! Already driven over the bridge and seen the Opera house, so we’ll be moving onto New Zealand tomorrow and be back home for the end of the week!
Oh and the record breaking weather? Raining…..
Here comes Mr Grumpy
Just a quick note to ask that our blog is not shared or linked to on other forms of social media.
Facebook have specifically asked that there should be no topless shots of me available to the general public!
Thanks Simon
